The upcoming release board

One of the main features of the store is our upcoming releases board. It is placed on the wall right by the front entrance. It is just an old dry erase board, but we have been using it for years for this purpose. The top of the board is a header showing the month and the words "upcoming releases" on it, as well as a graphic the somehow ties into the general feeling of the month, usually. After that, there are two columns going down that give the title and author (as well as some sort of little graphic) in chronological order. Each publishing week gets at least one new hardcover release, for a total of between twelve and twenty per month. I try to make sure that there is at least one non-fiction work, one children's book, and one of each major genre (mystery, romance, fantasy/science-fiction). I also try to get at least one more literary fiction work, possibly from a lesser known writer, just to show that I might know what I am doing. I try to only showcase titles whose covers I know, so I can draw an appropriate picture or flourish to go along with it. Finally, and this is a secret, I try to make sure every letter of the alphabet is represented somewhere in the header, titles, or authors. If I cannot, then I hide the unused letters in the graphics. Frequently, it's the "Q" that gets hidden.
