Nancy Thayer's new book, A Nantucket Wedding, is aptly named as it is about a wedding that will take place (or is supposed to) on Nantucket. It is the story of Alison, a widow, who is preparing to be wed for the third time. This is six years after the death of her beloved second husband (we don't talk about the first husband). She has invited her two daughters, Jane (daughter of the first husband that we don't talk about) and Felicity (daughter of her beloved second husband) to her fiance David's summer home on Nantucket to discuss her wedding plans.

Jane is an attorney who is married to Scott, also an attorney, and they are "having difficulties". Felicity , a mother of two, is married to Noah, a green food entrepreneur, and they too are "having difficulties" of which she blissfully (?) is unaware. David, too, has two children. A daughter Poppy who is expecting her third child and who is not, I repeat, not overjoyed at the thought of Alison and her daughters joining her family and in sharing in any inheritance from her father. His son Ethan is a gentleman farmer and a serial flirt, maybe a philanderer, who says he is divorced but he isn't.

Throw all these characters together with moonlit nights, sandy beaches and the charm that is all Nantucket and you have the makings of first class summer read.
